I Love Valentine's Day
Sure, there was a time (especially after I just broke up with someone) that I dreaded Valentine's Day. During those times, I dreaded it but still I loved it. I never hated Valentine's Day even when I was single, it wasn't hate, it was more envy.
Yep - I'm that type - the one who fell for the Valentine's Day consumerism plot. But the thing is, it's nice to see people being all lovey-dovey and mushy. AND it's even nicer when you get to be a part of all the mushy stuff going on.
So when I saw this Valentine's Festival at Eastwood Mall, my heart just leapt out of me and got sucked in all the mushy glory. I was like a weirdo getting all giddy and all I could say as I look at each flower, each teddy bear, each chocolate was "Awww. Ohhhh". Haha.
My partner, on the other hand, doesn't really feel anything towards Valentine's. So when I was all giddy and squirming, all she could do was laugh at how weird I am. What's sweet about her is, she tries to celebrate it - for me. She doesn't really get what the fuss is about. What she understands is how happy it makes me feel.
I think if there's anything that Valentine's Day teaches is tolerance and acceptance. Even if you "hate" it, you tolerate all the mushy-ness that's going on and accept that it happens, just that. Lastly, even if you don't understand it, you welcome it because you know it will make your partner extra happy.
